First Post!

❤ Introduction ❤

Hello! My name is Wanzetta Morning. Nice to meet you! I am 20 years old and am in my second year at UAF studying elementary education. I hope to earn my BA, and once I start working, I would like to work towards my master's as well. I love exploring new ways to express myself and enjoy connecting with others. Outside of school, I babysit, work at Mocha Dans, and work as an assistant bookkeeper for my mom's business. Some of my hobbies include camping, cooking, shopping, gardening, listening to music, spending time with loved ones, and board games. I have been becoming more and more intrigued by art as I get older, so I am excited to learn more about how I feel about and perceive art throughout this semester.

❤ My Relationship to Art

Art has always been a part of my life, even if I don’t create it often. I enjoy drawing, photography, coloring, crafting of all kinds, and experimenting with digital design when I have the time. While I don’t own much art, I love supporting local artists. My favorite local artists are Anya Toelle and Jill Richie. I find inspiration all around me. I love architecture, and I would love to go to Rome one day to see the ruins. I took a ceramics class in high school that I really loved, clay is my favorite medium. I have never gone to a gallery or museum, but I would love to as soon as I can. I have an appreciation for creativity of all kinds, I believe art connects us to our emotions and helps us see the world through different perspectives. I took a beginning drawing class in the spring semester of 2024, and I will attach a photo of my favorite assignment I completed.

This is a pearl stud earring that I did, it is my best work :)
(In my opinion.)

  2. Hello! I like how you did the shading in your drawing! I love Anya Toelle’s work; I own a couple of prints of it. Her shop downtown is cool as well! I agree that art lets us see other perspectives, something that is crucial to understanding the world and ourselves. I recommend checking out the Museum of the North if you haven’t gone yet. It’s been a while since I've been there, but their exhibits are wonderful.
